My Strategy - Battle-field Partner

My battle-field partner was a guy by the name of Werner Labuschagne. I met Werner about four years ago as a young man and he wanted to achieve body building greatness.

WernerAt that point in time my goals were not aligned with his but we kept in contact and stayed friends. "Funny how you meet people in life and you are not sure as to why" - anyway that's another story.

Werner went on to win the 2006 IFBB Gauteng Central Novice Division under 75Kg as well as achieving third place in the SA'S Novice Division. He also achieved a win in the Gauteng Professionals' Competition.

That's why I chose Werner as a battle-field partner!!

Werner Labuschagne

I approached Werner prior to my starting the USN Body & Lifestyle Challenge and sat him down to tell him of my decision (he owed me one from our previous encounter and it was payback time). All I was asking for was his time for an hour a day, five days a week for three months.

It was however difficult as he already had a training partner and his own routine and training style, but I knew that without some support at gym (him being first choice) I was not going to achieve the result pictured in my mind's eye, and that this guy was committed and would push me to breaking point and beyond and that was exactly what I wanted.

I explained to him what my goals were and why I was doing this, I also explained to him that there would have to be changes in his training routine and that my time was limited, thereby nullifying any possibility of a three way gym partnership. I believe he felt that it was a bit of a bitter pill to swallow but said he would consider my request and come back to me. True to his word he came back a week later.

I had a Battle-field Partner!!

Usually these guys are perceived as all brawn and no brains, but, let me tell you something, they can teach us a thing or two about commitment and dedication. This was also one of the big reasons I needed him, not just throwing weights around but teaching me commitment and dedication. For these guys there are no such words as "I can't", they push hard every time, attaining new goals not monthly or weekly but daily.

Now I know what you're probably saying, "ja" he (Adrian) had a pro helping him, YES, I did. But is a personal trainer also not a professional, remember there are a lot of professional people out there that are willing to help you, hook up with someone at gym, start your USN Body & Lifestyle Challenge with a friend or even your spouse.

The biggest pro is USN. They have a workout designed for any goal which you may desire to achieve, from your weight training sessions to your cardio sessions. Remember this organisation is a professional institution with qualified people that have done research on how the best results are attainable. Trust USN they know what they are doing.

Get a personal trainer for a week to help you run through your USN Body & Lifestyle Challenge training routine showing you all the exercises and how to do them properly. If there is one thing I learnt "technique is everything".

Thank you Lappies, without you I know my gym sessions would have been much easier and a lot less painful, but without the superb results shown in the "after" picture. You are truly a warrior of the body!!
