My Strategy - Strategic Intellengence (Progress Reports)

This is important - when I started the USN Body Lifestyle Challenge whilst looking through the passport I saw that USN wanted weekly measurements.

What a "schlep" or so I thought, why on earth would you want weekly measurement, monthly should be more than sufficient. Then I sat down one night and carefully thought about the whole weekly measurement thing and realised the dual value thereof to me and USN - the significant importance of seeing and measuring the transformation.

That's why USN know's exactly why they need USN Body & Lifestyle Challenge participants to do the weekly measurements, they want you to get excited about the transformation taking place and focus on both the short and long term goals.

I thought; if that's what they want that's what they'll get. I decided to pull another professional into my team, Lara Van Rooyen, Professional Biokineticist.

I made an appointment for 12 January 2009, arrived at about 13h00 and sat down to discuss exactly what my goals where and how she would be involved in my team. She would be my Intelligence advisor. Every week for the next twelve weeks she would be giving me vital information, so vital that it could contribute towards making or breaking my goals.

What happens is that a person starts their challenge with measurements, not knowing what to actually do with them. This is where you plan your attack and make intelligence decisions on "going to battle" and as to how you will approach your next week's battle plan.

I broke my challenge down into 12 attacks, every week a new goal, every week a new strategy. The previous week's gains became my next week's enemy, I had to defeat my previous weeks successes week by week not focusing on my start or end date but rather on a week to week battle. Thus with the intelligence coming in I had relevant usable information and applied it successfully. Before I could open my eyes the results - so to speak - started to materialise and there was a sweet smell of victory in the air.

I made sure of this team member's role, the information needs to be accurate and reliable - so choose carefully, it helps you make the right moves when you need to do so.

Thanks Laratjie, your assistance, feedback and information was invaluable.
