Why Assess

In the My Strategy segment of the website under Strategic Intelligence I discussed briefly how I broke up my challenge into 12 separate weeks and also the importance if usable information.

What I will be discussing next is the importance of the different ways one can assess your progress.

For my challenge I decided to go for three types of assessments namely,

1. Circumference Measurements

2. Calliper Fat Percentage Measurements

3. Scale

These three types enabled me to keep my finger on the pulse of things at all times. This also kept me motivated when times got tough, the easiest way to lose interest is to show no results and results don't always show from one type of measuring method "climbing on the scale".

If this was the case and all I used was the scale I would have most probably given up in the third week of my USN Body & Lifestyle Challenge. Have a look at week 1 - 4 under Tracking My Progress and you will see what I mean. If all I depended on was the scale my results would have been poor to say the least. This is the very reason I decided to go with all three.

If your strategy is correct and all your other calculations and product selections have been done with specific results in mind gains don't show that easily on the scale.

It's quite an easy concept if you think about it, if what you are trying to do is lose fat then surely the calliper method would be significant and if you are trying to maintain or build lean muscle then the circumference measurements would also be of interest.

Then surly looking at the whole picture all the measurements are then significant in order to manage results and plan strategies.

I did this with great success and would like to urge you to look at, at least two, the scale not being one of them.

Don't focus on the scale in my opinion it's your worst enemy and make an effort to visit a qualified individual that will keep you motivated and informed of real progress.
